MAUREEN MACARTHUR
CANDIDATE FOR 5TH WARD COUNCIL
As a councilwoman, Maureen will:
• Seek grant funding for improvements to Inman Avenue
• Enhance opportunities and activities for seniors,
teens and families at the Evergreen Center
• Meet with residents and respond swiftly to their needs
• Improve the quality of life, ensuring Colonia remains a
great place to raise a family and retire.
A mother of three who is active in community programs throughout Colonia, Maureen has struck the perfect balance between being an active parent and a successful entrepreneur. While raising her children and being involved in every aspect of their lives, she also built a successful local business from the ground up, building a base of 500 customers.
Maureen has proven management experience to move Colonia forward. Over the years, she has been relied upon to coordi- nate difficult projects that ultimately enhanced the local quality of life - for her family and the community at-large.
As a member of the Bishop Ahr High School Blue Ribbon Committee, Maureen helped build and finance a much-needed extension to the high school. She has served on the St. John Vianney Church Pastoral Committee and as the church's Tithing Coordinator and has been instrumental in the expan- sion of the St. John Vianney Church.
Maureen, who attended Seton Hall University on a tennis scholarship, was raised in Iselin and has lived in Colonia since 1995 with her husband, John. They have three children: Julia, 14, John Jr., 13 and Robert, 10.
Maureen is proud to be a member of Mayor John E. McCormac's Team, which is continually improving neighborhoods throughout the Township.
The McCormac Team's Town-wide Accomplishments:
• Cracked down on illegal housing
• Increased property maintenance enforcement
• Built a state-of-the-art animal shelter
• Introduced free bulk waste pick-up and a recycling drop-off center
• Improved parks and playgrounds and added open space
• Shared and consolidated services with other
municipalities and our school district
• Installed solar panels on municipal buildings
• Improved Senior Citizen programs such as Tommy Tool Box
• Received recognition as a Wellness Community and a
Preserve America Town
• Brought more special events and arts programs to Woodbridge,
such as a Farmers Market, Senior Olympics, Big Wheels Day,
Music on Main, Woodbridge Idol, Woodbridge Youth
Community Players, New Horizons Band and the Community Chorus
