JIM MAJOR

Jim, who moved to
Iselin in 1971, has proudly
represented the Fourth Ward for
five years and currently serves as
Vice President of the Township
Council. Working with Mayor John E.
McCormac, Jim is a committed community
leader who has spent decades
making Iselin a better place to live.
Jim serves as a Vice President at
Whitman, Inc., where he coordinates
security improvements for the Port
Authority, school design projects and
a number of green design initiatives,
including solar projects and energy
audits. Jim is a Commissioner of The
Woodbridge Redevelopment Agency.
He and his wife, Carol, have two
children, James R. Major and
Robert B. Major.

Jim has a long history of community service, having served as:
• President of the Woodbridge Board of Education and Member of the
Woodbridge Education Foundation
• President of the Woodbridge Township Parent Teachers President's
Council and President of School 18 PTO
• Coach in the Iselin Athletic Association.
• Iselin Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree.
As Councilman, Jim has greatly improved the quality of life in the Fourth Ward. His accomplishments include:
• Installing a lighted crosswalk at School 24 on Goodrich Avenue
• Placing a green traffic arrow on Gill Lane
• Improving parking conditions on Oak Tree Road
• Cracking down on illegal housing and poorly maintained properties
• Using a Green Acres designation to save property at School 18 from
commercial development
• Authoring the Iselin Vision and 10-Point Plan
• Working with the Board of Education to improve public tennis
courts at JFK Memorial High School
• Coordinating improvements with NJ Transit for the MetroPark train
station
If re-elected, Jim will continue to persue environmentally- friendly initiatives that enhance living in the Fourth Ward and reduce traffic. He plans to work to improve access to the MetroPark station, giving commuters safe and easy alternatives, such as walking, car pooling and bicycling.
Jim is an important member of Mayor John E. McCormac's Team, which is continually improving neighborhoods throughout the Township.
The McCormac Team's Town-wide Accomplishments:
• Cracked down on illegal housing
• Increased property maintenance enforcement
• Built a state-of-the-art animal shelter
• Introduced free bulk waste pick-up and a recycling drop-off center
• Improved parks and playgrounds and added open space
• Shared and consolidated services with other
municipalities and our school district
• Installed solar panels on municipal buildings
• Improved Senior Citizen programs such as Tommy Tool Box
• Received recognition as a Wellness Community and a
Preserve America Town
• Brought more special events and arts programs to Woodbridge,
such as a Farmers Market, Senior Olympics, Big Wheels Day,
Music on Main, Woodbridge Idol, Woodbridge Youth
Community Players, New Horizons Band and the Community Chorus
