Woodbridge touts success of effort to reduce crime at apartment complexes

WOODBRIDGE — Not only do many township apartment developments look safer, they in fact are safer, said township officials who on Tuesday released preliminary crime statistics for these neighborhoods.

Woodbridge touts new program in drop in apartment complex crime

WOODBRIDGE-Major crimes were down 35 percent for the first six months of the year at 15 of the township's largest apartment complexes and multi-family buildings, and officials said it was due not to an increased police presence but a new environmental design program that promotes more lighting, better security devices and simple measures like trimming back shrubbery

Woodbridge students get a big leg up on college

An arrangement announced this month that will enable high school students in Woodbridge to earn advance college credits and prepare for the SAT at vastly reduced prices isn't exactly a new idea, but, boy, is it sure is welcome and so timely.

As for the details, the Woodbridge Board of Education, Middlesex County College and Princeton Review, which offers the SAT prep courses, have formed a three-way partnership.

Woodbridge police use $390G from drug bust to fund squad car cameras

WOODBRIDGE — Taking money from bad guys to catch more bad guys. That's how Mayor John McCormac described the $390,000 the township Police Department has received to install cameras in 35 police vehicles.

The money was part of a record $2 million in drug money seized by Woodbridge police and FBI agents during a 2003 drug bust in which a Glendale, N.Y., man was caught in Avenel with $1.5 million in cocaine.
